Nightstar padded through the thick undergrowth, tasting the air periodically for prey. Her nose twitched at the cold air. Augh, I hate leaf-bare... she thought. It's so... COLD!
Then, she continued forward, stopping at a bush she noticed. The light berries that still clung to it had a tangy scent, but she knew better than to nibble, especially at things that she was unsure of it's identity.
Juniper, I think... she thought, making a mental note to inform Dawnflower of the bush's presence. Onward she went, quiet as possible, looking for prey. She opened her mouth, and then had to hold back a purr. Squirrel...
Indeed, she heard it too. A bushy brown squirrel was near a tree, acorn in hand. Just my luck! It is before hibernation season, I suppose.
She quietly crept up on it, freezing whenever it looked near her. Then, when she got close enough, she pounced. The squirrel chattered in distress, not even having enough time to make a run for it. Nightstar took its life quickly with a bite to the back of the neck, and then she placed it underneath a tree, kicking soil over it to disguise its scent, so that she could come back for it later.
She then continued west towards the border, figuring she'd mark it while she was there. StarClan knows, there's so few cats in ThunderClan that hunting and patrolling are done at the same time! She almost laughed, and then headed towards the border.

Nightstar came back towards the squirrel, still annoyed that she had missed a perfectly easy catch. "Bad luck, that's all..." she muttered. "But in leaf-bare, we need all we can get. Two in less than a day was extremely lucky given the amount of time. But even so..." she meowed to herself, digging up the fresh-kill, "every bit counts, I suppose. Dawnflower should get the first pick of prey, I think, since I'm fine, we have no elders, and the apprentices can wait until they've hunted."
Carrying the squirrel in her jaws, she set out towards camp to drop it off before going to the WindClan border.

When Dracopaw started scenting prey, he scented vole. When Dracopaw missed he exclaimed, "Mousedung." Dracopaw scented again and picked up mice. Dracopaw carefully stalked a mouse. Dracopaw leaped and killed the mouse before it had a chance to escape. Then Dracopaw said, "This is a good start."

OOC: Great, seems you're a good RPer, Dracopaw! =D
Nightstar padded through the undergrowth, still tense and angry after the encounter with that stupid apprentice. She stopped as she spotted one of her apprentice, Dracopaw, hunting. When he caught the mouse, she purred, and stepped into view.
"Good job," she told him, indicating the freshly-caught prey. "Why don't you bury that, catch a few more things, and then head back to the camp and eat."
With that, she nodded at him, pleased, and then continued on to make sure that Morningpaw had disappeared from ThunderClan territory.

Dracopaw cought a couple of mice and a vole and took the prey back to camp. Dracopaw wondered why Nightstar was out here at this time.
